I have a friend who is trying to upgrade an old single floppy drive NCR DOS computer. He would like to put a hard disk on it. Unfortunately, there is only room for a half height drive in the cabinet. I am guessing that the power supply will have enough ooompf to spin it up since it was designed for a dual floppy, anyway I'm hoping. It is an 8088 based system and only has 8-bit slots, so the controller needs to be an older type. I am unable to help him directly because my spare 40 Meg drive is full height, and my spare controller is AT class 16-bit. Does anyone out there have a --> CHEAP <-- 20 or 30 MB drive with 8-bit controller? Speed is NOT important, 65 mSec, or 80 mSec would be OK. MFM or RLL are both OK. I would be willing to trade a full height 28 mSec 40M Micropolis drive and 16-bit controller for an operational 8-bit system. If you don't want to trade for the 40M and 16-bitter, tell me what you want for your stuff or what other types of trade stuff you might be interested in. How about an IBM AT motherboard w/512K?? :-) Thanks for your time.... Ferrous Steinka 649-9487 (leave message if not there)
