NEW MEXICO: Governor Touts Medical Cannabis
This western state may well become the next to join the ranks of those
with legal protections for medical cannabis patients, thanks to a bold
move by its governor. Since more people support safe access than they do
any given politician, state lawmakers are likely to accede.

SAN DIEGO: Officials Defy Law and Voters
With overwhelming public opinion opposing the move, it’s hard to figure
what San Diego county officials are thinking as they go forward with
plans to take on the state law that more than 2 out of 3 county
residents support. Some residents are angry enough to have launched a
term-limits initiative to guarantee the officials’ removal.

LOS ANGELES: Los Angeles County OKs Dispensaries
Access to medical cannabis should be a little safer and easier in LA
County, thanks to a decision by officials there to allow for

ORANGE COUNTY: Conservative Flagship Denounces Raid
Known for its vigorous defense of conservative principles, the Orange
County Register is also consistent in its support of the rights of
doctors and patients in regard to cannabis. Like most Americans, they
believe it is a private medical matter.

RHODE ISLAND: Implementation Now the Issue
In some respects, getting a medical cannabis law passed is the easy
part. The hard part is figuring out how to effectively implement it in a
climate of absolute prohibition. Rhode Island may soon look to the
experiences of California and Oregon, where the legislatures have
stepped in to clarify the laws initially passed.
