Jazz Guitar Lessons for career-minded players and serious amateurs. Jazz Theory and Improvisation for All Instruments. For the player who wants to improve his/her improvising concept, reading abilities, technique and overall understanding of the jazz idiom and jazz techniques without necessarily wanting to become a "jazz" player. Topics covered may include: Chord construction, chord form fingerings, reading chord charts, chord melody arranging and improvising, harmonic analysis etc. Fretting hand: single note techniques: position (ie. vertical) playing, single string and combination (ie.horizontal) playing, string bending, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slurs etc. Pick hand techniques: alternate picking, sweep picking, pick + fingers (for chord melody) and a little bit of finger-style. (Note: I am not qualified to teach proper classical guitar technique although I can play some of the repertoire and borrow some classical techniques in my own playing.) Improvising: via modal chord scales, arpeggios, traditional melodic techniques (ie. passing tones, appoggiaturas, tensions etc.), the blues scale, pentatonic scales, symmetrical and synthetic scales, thematic development, etc. Jazz repertoire development. Sight reading and studio styles. Guitar set-up, tuning, whammy bars etc. Styles that I am comfortable with: Main Stream and Modern Jazz, Be-bop, Fusion, Rhythm & Blues, Blues, Classic Rock, Pop etc. About Myself My name is Joey Goldstein.
