Hi, I am wondering if its safe to put down your bank branch and account number on the rental applications. I realize that putting the SIN# is not a safe thing but I realize that you have to give them something to properly check your credit. They are asking for the bank branch & account number in addition to the SIN#. I plan to ignore the SIN#, but is it safe then to put down the bank branch & account number? Is the bank account # and your name enough for them to check your credit?

No, the branch is the place they will call to verify you have an account. Just don't give them a signed VOIDED cheque. Otherewise all they can do is put money into your acount. And that's cool isn't it?
