		THE EDEM PARTY

There's going to be a federal election soon.

The enumeraters (enumerators?) were at my door trying to get my
name and phone number for the permanent voters list.

Voters are going to be faced with the same options as the last
election. Officially recognised parties with predictable policies.

There will be slick advertising, recriminations, talk of new paths and
directions, and probably little or no real facts.

The voters will have to choose the policies that are closest to their
own views, with most making the "lesser of the evils" choice.

I would like to see a REAL new direction. Something that will give
voters a true voice in the government.

	What I propose is this.

Someone running for election with NO policies except democracy.

	HOW?

Picture this. Someone saying " OK, you tell me how to vote"

A politician saying that et will set up a Website and database of all
voters in et's riding, with mail, telephone and internet access. On this site
will be all the issues that will be considered by parliament, with each voter
having the chance to vote on each and every issue.

The technology exists to give each registered voter a VIN (voter
identification number) to ensure one vote per person per issue.

The voice mail technology exists to give each caller as much
information as needed to make an informed vote.

The web site would have a "voting booth" and the text of what is to
be voted on.

Snail mail can reach everyone on the voters list. (hopefully :-) )

The politician would explain the Electronic Democracy concept at
et's speeches.

	Other than that.

THE only thing the politician would need to say in et's campaign
speeches would be,

HOW DO YOU WANT ME TO VOTE? MAJORITY RULES!

	ELECTRONIC DEMOCRACY

note: these thoughts are my own and not to be confused or
affiliated with any established political party.
