VCN is a Vancouver based freenet that pulled the account of Jason Black
for posting what they felt were hate messages. This was done with
minimal intervention from other Usenet users (unlike in your case) and
was, in fact, based on a new rule introduced that was applied
retroactively to his account.

As to whether either termination was fair, I don't know. Each instance
stinks (IMHO) for different reasons despite my strong feelings of
distaste for the posts of either person but it does raise the question
of whether or not a company (or a freenet) can moderate the content of
their subscribers posts. Still waiting for a court case to decide.
