And you've just prooved that use of free speech should not be a
restriction on being foolish and self contradictory.  That's why I won't
get my knickers in a not over your statement here.  If freedom of speech
must be an "absolute" right, then libel laws (which you go on to support)
are a restriction of that absolute right.  You yourself have conceded that
there must be limits on rights.  Hate laws are no more a restriction on
free speech than libel laws.

As for the American First Amendment, we _do_ have the right to free speech
here.  Just because we have different names for things up here in Canada
doesn't mean we don't have them.  

BTW, the Americans also have anti-hate legislation.
