Nope, thats FC-AL (or at least, one definition of it). Theses cards, which are techincally called a "S-bus fibre channel host adaptor" (or something like that), are used for connecting to a SunStorage Array (SSA), and use the same FCOM's (GBIC equivalent) as on the I/O board on an E3000/E4000/etc. They do 25MB/sec, and pre-date FC-AL by at least a few years. Scott.

Only useful with /old/ Sun storage gear. D. -- I don't get mad.... I get stabby.

Thanks for the retort... thats exactly what they do and yes all the buyers knew that ..... get connected can mean many things. :-) truth is if you list the part number in the header ou don't even have to say anything. Let me see 238... 239 .... yes $240 I'll sell em direct too. Thanks for talking it up. btw: several have gone for $400... -Walt In <96uvhm$i81$1@isdserv3.macbank>, scott@hunterlink.net.au writes: >In aus.computers.sun jason andrade <jason@azure.dstc.edu.au> wrote: >> nulinnkeep@compuserve.com writes: > >>>$500+ now less than $100 on ebay.... > >>>http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1214470951 > >> you really have no idea what you're selling right ? > >I'd say he knows exactly what he's selling. > >> if it's a fibrechannel HBA then i can't figure out why >> you'd say it does 25mb (megabit ? megabyte?) as it should >> do 100Mbyte/sec. > >Nope, thats FC-AL (or at least, one definition of it). They are quite cheap, not too slow and not quite the same as any FC card you will see these days. Unless you have an SSA11x then it's not really any use. Paul -- Paul S.
