Agenda changes (5 minutes)

Introductions: who we are and why we are here (10 minutes)

What is the name of our group? (5 minutes)

Committee reports: hopefully including information on internal
communication methods and how others can get involved (10 minutes each)

% Harware/software/networking/facilities

% User interface

% Data

% Funding/staffing

% Publicity/administration/training

Communication: listserv, newsgroup -- how can communication be improved?
(10 minutes)

How do we get the system get started? (15 minutes)

Option A: Develop a business plan and a database development plan. Then
solicit funds from corporations and granting agencies. Wait until we have
funding before building the system.

Option B: Build a prototype on a home computer using whatever freeware we
can find and start putting data in, while also developing plans. Then we
can ask for funds for expanding an existing service.

Option C: Ask a major corportation for a machine (at least on loan);
gather enough funds to acquire the FreePort software ($850) and build a
prototype. Then we can ask for funds for expanding an existing service.

Other options?

With options B and C, how many phone lines would we need?

How will we select a name for the service (this topic may have been
addressed by the publicity committee)? (5 minutes)

Adjourn before 7:30.
