I am interested in learning more about beach gardening. I would own some beachfront property and would like to landscape it with native plants that help to prevent erosion. If anyone can point me to some good reading material on dune preservation and ocean gardening, I would appreciate it. --- Stephen Beatrous "When I am cold I get shiver bumps in sassmb@unx.sas.com my knee pits." Call the N.C. Botanical Garden for advice and references to
publications on the subject.
Rock phosphate, leaves, manure/peanut shell/crab-seafood waste
would go a long way toward enriching sandy soil. The phosphate would
bind to such compost-rich soil and enhance plant growth considerably;
the phosphate would be released gradually over time.
There may be organizations involved in replanting beach areas; the Bot.
Garden would probably know about these.
