Not true.

BOTH cellular providers offer price packages that waive the roaming
charges.  Basically, you pay a higher "per-minute" airtime fee and
don't have to worry if you are in or out of your "home" area.  Normally
you have to pay a surcharge for airtime outside of your "home" cellular
area.

I had this plan for 2 years with Cellular One.  I paid $.35 per minute
NATIONWIDE.  Later, I changed jobs and quit traveling and I switched
to a cheaper plan.  Less per-minute home charges, and since I never
roam (well hardly ever) I come out ahead.

With either company, you must do your homework and study your lifestyle
and needs for the phone.  In some cases, the more expensive plan will
be the most economical, viewing just the monthly bottom line.
