I am a member of Spa Health Clubs. I initially joined in north Raleigh, but my
membership allows me to go to any of the clubs in the area (and in other
cities). I go to the club at Willowdaile shopping center in Durham; they have
a medium-sized pool, aerobics classes pretty much all day every day, machines,
free weights, lifecycles, stairsteppers, rowing machines, etc. Also water
aerobics, sauna, and steamroom. My initial membership was four years for
$375 (one of those free because I paid cash, and I drew an additional free
year in an incentive drawing!), and my renewal is (and will be for all time)
$150 per year. The prices may have gone up some since I joined in 1986, but
I think Spa is probably still cheaper than most of the other clubs in the area
(I cringe when I hear of people paying $50/month for dues).

Note that many of the Spa clubs have no pool.
