Thomas, are you serious? Do you feel that way about anybody that uses Welfare? I know that Welfare is fraught with problems and that too many people use it for the wrong reason, but your statement is a bit strong. We all walk a thin line in these days and times and many of us could fall into very hard times by events uncontrolled by us. Would you consider having your body parts removed if you had a family member struck by a devastating disease that took all your assets, you were laid off because you took too much time off to tend the sick family member and your spouse left you with high debts? When I was growing up a lot of needy people were helped out by the churches. It seems that they no longer can or are willing to help those not as fortunate. Look around at some of the fabulous wealth that is accumulated by religious organizations. I used to think that everyone on Welfare was a pariah of society until I saw some of my own relatives brought to destitution. They were lucky and sensible enough to continue as useful citizens once they found themselves back on their feet. Today's Welfare system has a built in function to keep most recipients mired in the system. If everyone was off the dole, where would the Welfare bureaucracy work? Sorry to have taken up so much room but I could not let such a strong and wide statement go unanswered.
