IBYM 'inferior'.

In many cases, you are correct.  In some other cases, the circumstances
of birth don't prepare one for life.  For example, my father-in-law was
forced to leave school in the 8th grade to help work on the farm.  He
did well by learning a trade and working two jobs for a number of
years, but it wasn't easy.

And then there are those who are made destitute by a catastrophic illness
or bad luck.
