I think this counts as must-reading:

They make 4 points about the footage itself, and then 4 points about the
lack of context in the presentation of the footage. Then, this quote:

"No organisation of journalists who seek to bring their viewers an
accurate representation of reality should be broadcasting contextless,
unrepresentative images that encourage racism against nationalities and
their associated ethnic groups."

One quick question for those following this part of the WTC story: Are
the initial reports of "thousands" of celebrating Palestinians still
considered credible? It seems to me that Palestinian authorities have
definitely done damage control, in one case making not-so-veiled threats
to an AP reporter if his potentially embarrassing footage aired. But it
also seems clear that the scope of any celebration has been vastly
exaggerated by the Western media, with footage of the same small group
of celebrating Palestinians replayed over and over again simply because
it's available -- and because it's the kind of sexy imagery that TV
journalists love.

Regardless of whether or not they accurately portray the feelings of the
Palestinian people, those images have become the default portrayal of
those people. Is that fair? I don't think so.
