I've been hearing about this Genesis tribute band on the radio. They're supposed to be at the Ritz in Raleigh NC this Fri. + Sat. They're called "The Musical Box" and supposedly re-create early 70's Genesis concerts. I think they're from Montreal. Anybody up there seen them? Are they worth the $15 to see them in concert? $15 seems awful steep for a tribute band! Reply appreciated, Joe Schluter

Thanks for all the responses. Here are a few that I got through regular e-mail. Looks like the band's a winner. I'm DEFINATELY going. Joe Schluter ---------------------------------------------------- Hi Joe, There is a good write-up in the current issue of Spectator magazine that discusses the band and tribute. It gives good details about how the stage setting mimics the original tour, down to the lighting cues being re-created. The costumes, the songs, the playlists, etc. and the lead singer being able to mimic Peter Gabriel. Seems as if a lot of work has gone into the production. Also, for heavy-duty fans, sometime afterwards (I think), there will be opportunites to see some rare video (?) footage of the band and tour. -------------------------------------------------- They came to Ottawa on two different occasions and I have seen three of their concerts. Generally, I am not enthusiastic about tribute acts of any kind but the Musical Box proved to be worth an exception. Their moving performances of early Genenis songs have an intensity which I imagine to be close to the original. If you like early Genesis, do NOT fail to see this band.
