Andy is a Senior Software Engineering Staff Specialist at Data General 
Corporation in the RTP.

The abstract for Andy's talk:
"Code reviews are an integral part of the standard software engineering
design process as practiced in Data General's Unix Development group.
There are many reasons for doing code reviews, and many potential
benefits.  The process and results of code reviews as practiced within
Unix development are described in this talk.  Benefits include:
verifying the correctness of the functionality and design; ensuring that
the functional and design documentation is correct and up to date;
finding and eliminating performance problems; checking for conformance
to external standards such as POSIX and the 88open BCS; determining
adherence to internal software coding conventions; and educating
software developers on good engineering practices and on specific
details of the DG/UX implementation."

"Code reviews find errors early in the development process when they can
be fixed cheaply and without generating software trouble reports.  This
paper analyzes review of over 12,000 lines of DG/UX kernel code to
determine how effective code reviews are at finding errors.  Our reviews
contribute substantially to the overall quality of the DG/UX product,
and are as effective as other methods while being more efficient."

Directions to Research Triangle Institute Conference Room 258:

The Research Triangle Institute is located on Cornwallis Road in the
Research Triangle Park across the street from the main IBM facility.
Take I40 to the Davis Drive Exit.  If you are traveling from Chapel Hill
or Durham, turn left onto Davis Drive.  If you are traveling from
Raleigh, turn right onto Davis Drive.  Go to stoplight at intersection of
Davis Drive and Cornwallis Road.  Turn left and then take the second left
onto Institute Drive.  Go straight and follow signs to the George R.
Herbert Building.  As you turn left into the Herbert Building entrance
road, please park in the first lot on your right.  Enter Herbert Building
at the main entrance and take the stairs up to the second floor.  Please
use the elevator only if you are handicapped or have many materials to
carry.  Take a left at the top of the stairs and the conference room will
be at the right.  The room number is 258.
