If you have some real attachment to it or have an : abitrary company policy against MacOS (kind of like saying "yeah we'll get : you any corporate car you want, so long as you want a Yugo") you can run : VirtualPC or SoftWindows. Ironically these emulators (running DOS or : Win'3.11) are reported to run DOS programs FASTER than Win'95! wow. so if you run lots of dos programs on your pc, don't run it under win95. : > 2- Ms-Office : Available on Mac if you need it. slow on mac. : > 3- Word : Also available on the Mac. MacOS comes with MacLink which translates Word : and other popular DOS/Wintel formats AND lets you modify them, using : Mac-only programs or Mac versions of cross platform products! slow on mac. it's cool that macs read pc disks. ms should include the ability to read mac disks into windows. : > 4- Autocad 13 for Windows 95 : There are at least two strong CAD programs for Mac that can read and write : AutoCAD files. I can remember AutoCAD DESPERATELY looking for Mac : programmers to support both platforms. One of the industry's best kept : secrets is that Mac programmers are so valuable that they can pick and : choose who they work for and many company's blaming Mac's marketshare for : abandoning it just don't want to admit that their programmers don't have : the "juice" to master MacOS. people don't want to work for autodesk? and even if mac programs can read and write in dxf format, you think it's a better option for him to switch to macs, learn a new os, buy an equivalent cad package, and learn a new cad package? wow. : > 5- Netscape : Co-released on Mac. May have been Mac first. Both Communicator and : Navigator are as well supported on Mac as wintel platforms. Plus you get : the better interapplication support of MacOS. sucks on both platforms. then again, so does IE. : So to sum up my answer to your question: get the fastest MacOS compatible : your budget will allow. If you can't afford a couple of hundred dollars : more to get a genuine Apple(R) Macintosh(R) there are many excellent : models available from Motorola, PowerComputing, UMAX, PowerTools, MACTELL, : APS and others. get the pentium pro. and winNT if you can afford it. you said you use autocad13 for win95. shoud be the same version for NT. - ed
