@HݡAo̬OӦ http://www.opendoc.apple.com/ ѵG OpenDoc is based on the concept of component software: self-contained, reusable software modules. You might think of component software in the same way you think of components for a home stereo. When you create a home stereo system, you can buy different companies' stereo parts-a cassette deck, receiver, CD player, or speakers-because you know that they all have a standard interface and will work together. Components in an OpenDoc software application-for example, a text editor component, database component, online network component, or multimedia service component- all share a standard interface, and will work together, too. OpenDoc is a multiplatform software architecture that simplifies the way people develop and use software. It breaks down the barriers between different applications and bridges the gap between many operating systems. It's all made possible through a simple but powerful idea called component software. Component software is a new way of thinking about software; a more flexible way to create, revise and use software so that it works the way people do. With OpenDoc, solutions are created using software components, instead of large applications. Using these components, you can combine features from many different applications- and across many platforms- to create customized software solutions. OpenDoc works with traditional applications as well. For instance, the next revision of ClarisWorks will be an OpenDoc-aware application. This means that users will be able to drag-and-drop new functionality into ClarisWorks, letting them customize its abilities and do things never before possible. Want to integrate the Internet into your work? Just drag-and-drop a Cyberdog web browser into your document. Need more elaborate charting features than ClarisWorks provides? Drag-and-drop a charting component from either Adrenaline Software or Corda Technologies. OpenDoc acts as a plug-in architecture for applications that will give users unprecedented flexibility and power. The benefits of OpenDoc are many-whether you're a commercial developer, a custom solution builder, an in-house developer, or an end user. -- p.s. This is sent by CyberDog. Eureka, ^p
