I am doing a GCSE school project which requires me to design and build
an electronic circuit.

I have been told that there is a piece of software called something
like "Crocodile" which enables you to enter the circuit and will test
to see if it will work and if not possibly why not.

Can anyone tell me where l can obtain this programme from or let me
have a copy ?.

I am having trouble receiving email with file attachments so please
post the programme to the newsgroup.

Chris, There is a program called circuitmaker and a demo version can
be downloaded from: http://www.cirtest.com/html/cirt1061.htm

I think what you have in mind is an electronic circuit simulator. A
simulator program will show you how your circuit would behave in real life.
There are many simulators out there, with varying levels of complexity.

You may not yet have the need for a full-blown simulator; some "trial"
versions of simulation software will probably suffice.

You could try MicroSim's pSpice trial package at http://www.microsim.com
and buy a complete package when you feel the need later.
