Two in one shot - about par for a Net flame! If you've been actually *reading* my posts, my might have caught on to my statements that both side have rights and privileges - spelled out in the contract (lease). Contracts are negotiable. I've also agreed that some of these things are spelled out by law. Note that I've applauded the keyless deadbolt law - it's good for all sides. This is "treating renters like sharecroppers"? I've merely disagreed with the notion that I completely lose control of my property when I agree to let someone use it in a business transaction. Certainly there are things I give up - but we've got people in this newsgroup telling me (essentially) that I need a search warrant to inspect for gas leaks when the renter's been on vacation for a month! [please note that this would be one effect of the ideas proposed in this topic. No-one actually used this particular example yet, until I did just now.] cheers, mark -- Mark Brown | AIX Architecture | Civil Liberty (512) 838-3926 | 11400 Burnet Rd M/S 9582 | Through T/L 678-3926 | Austin, TX 78758 | Complex Mathematics! mbrown@austin.ibm.com -or- MBROWN at AUSVM6 |
