Also note that the stuff they DO code into the VIN or other data is sometimes wrong... Don't ask me why, in today's world of computerized manufacturing. As one example I was trying to find touch-up paint to match the code, and at the WalMarts and KMarts of this world the info was always that this code does not exist. At a body-shop supplier I asked and was told "It is probably xxx, Chrysler frequently screws that up." In fact what they supplied was the right paint, and the code was wrong in one digit.
