Usually, these studies are false -- in other words, they cooked the books. One noteable study added suicide and homicide via firearms in America, then compared them to just plain homicide worldwide. > In 1995 (sorry don't have the figures for 1996 or 1997), there were > more the 5000 innocent children killed by guns. An AK-47 is not a weapon of mass destruction, I hate to tell you, and a) an AK-47, just like any other firearm, has on;y one function -- to expell projectiles in a consistent manner. Everything else is up to the user, and b) self defense is *not* murder. Please try hard to realize that defending your life, limb and property from someone intent on taking them is just plain the right thing to do. > > >Weapon ownership is vital to our freedom. > > BS... the only thing vital to our freedom is to prevent wackos's like > you from obtaining office. Our forefathers were much smarter than us, as is demonstrated in the 2nd and 10th amendments to the US Constitution, showing all future generatiosn that the final "check" and "mate" in our governmental system of "checks" and "balances" remains with the people. > >Aside from the fact that many people stop would-be attackers, theives, rapists, > >murderers with their personal weapon, > > The statics for this would amaze you... more people get killed with > their own weapon then prevent the crime the first place. This statistic was cooked up by a researcher barely better than a charletan, and lacking the credibility. Kellermann [the charletan in question] thoroughly cooked the books, and has yet to give over all his data for peer review, if I recall correctly. For statitics and studies with much more integrity, you may want to review the works of John Lott, as well as those of Gary Kleck -- both of which lend incredible credence to the pro-firearms side. > Your goal to kill not maintain a balance of power. GUNS do not do > this. Violence never lead to anything except blood shed. More matters of mass murder have probably been caused by one side being inadequately armed for the occasion. Read up on the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto during WWII sometime, and ask if the Holocaust could have happened if such resistence was universal. > >We The People would have no rights without guns to enforce them. > > Our rights are due to our system of government not guns. Our rights are natural rights, through our being sentient and sapient beings. The government can try to restrict them, putting itself at risk of destruction, or can let things alone. Humanity cannot be contained. > > We The People had better fear the government that fears our guns! > > Our government doesn't fear guns, the fear wackos like you that walk > into the capital building in open fire. Being a convicted felon, > Jonny Blow doesn't have the right to buy a hand gun. Johny Blow can't do this, now, and Johnny Blow should not have gotten out of jail if he can't be trusted to behave himself. -- "Frankly, Agent Mulder, alien abduction is the more believable option."
