Forgive me, I should have just said cross. While the path the cars take cross
twice, the cars need to cross each other once. The cars must cross the path
the opposing car takes, twice. Either way, it's stupid. There is no need for
the cars to cross paths at all. If this were done at every intersection rather
than just where the breaks in the median are, I'd go out and buy a wrecker
company.

I wouldn't call native Texans stupid at all. I'd definitely call them
'not well traveled' though. How can you tell if Texas is the greatest
state (country?) in the world if you've never been out of Texas? ;^)

There is no question, Austin suffers greatly in traffic flow and safety.
If you don't believe me, move somewhere else (except New Mexico) for a
year.

I love Austin and the surrounding area and to prove it, I just bought my
first home. Austin has beautiful scenery, great food, great people, good
economy (for now), nice homes, and lots of fun things to do. I'm sorry,
but driving here is only a little short of suicidal. The traffic system
*is* stoooooopid, and nobody is from here. It makes for a real chaotic
time.
