The largest economic growth in the history of the United States 
occurred during the 1950s, when the top marginal income tax rate
was 70%, or 90% with surcharges.  Furthermore, the GI Bill of 
Rights subsidized the middle class with loans for home mortgages
and college educations.

Now, the top marginal income tax rate is 39% and the government
subsidizes big corporations and the upper class.  As a result, the
rich are getting richer and the poor and getting poorer.

Draw your own conclusions.

Agreed.  But why do you think that selling out to the moneyed 
classes solves the problem?
