The trip report is at: http://www.users.cts.com/king/d/drlubell/lride97/lride97.html if you prefer .html Trip Report, Biker Scum Love Ride 97: Left Coast Extravaganza (NOTE: we named our annual ride, "Love Ride", before we had heard of the more famous annual fund raiser ride) This years Love Ride was to explore the West Coast. The Love Ride attendees came from So. Cal. and Central Texas. San Diego Participants: Dan [me] (96 VFR 750) Jon (95 G00F3) LA Participants Brian (92 CBR 1000) Jim (82 Nighthawk 650) Texas Cavalry Nathan "X is for cross country!" (89 GSXR 750) Ben (*older* 90 VFR 750) Bethany "First official woman Biker Scum" (95 RF600) The plan was have all So Cal riders ride to a base station (Bens Aunts house) in San Francisco where we would meet the Texas contingent driving in straight through from Texas with bikes on a trailer. From base station San Fran, we would ride up the coast and through the mountains and redwood forests to Vancouver, BC for the first International Biker Scum Love Ride. Of course fate had it that the trip would not go according to plan. We quickly learned that to make Canada round trip in one week meant slabbing all the way, because the coast highways and secondary roads of No Cal are slower going than we expected. And Biker Scum dont play that game (unless there is an Ironbutt award for it!). We went as far North as Crater Lake, OR and as far East as Reno, NV (technically, San Diego was farther East than Reno, look at a map). The entire trip was close to 4,000 miles for the San Diego riders and took 9 days of combined relaxing, competitive, and scenic riding. Those days are detailed in the following sections. Just curious as I've been seeing this cropping up all over
the place. But what are you using that thinks an apostrophe
is represented by an Ox92? Is this another one of those new
'Microsoft Standards'?

8-bit ASCII is still often interpreted at the whim
of those using it.
Get everyone on Unicode [1], and all your problems are
solved.
[1] Which I was using back in the days when it was called
XCCS 1.0.
