REQUIREMENTS / PLUSES:
(3) years of experience in a Novell 3.x / 4.x, IPX / SPX networking
envirnnment.
(3) years of experience in the Microsoft NT networking environment.
(2) years experience and a good fundamental background in the TCPIIP suite
of protocols.
(5) years experience in networking with switched / non-switch Ethernet
networking technologies.
Experience with MS Network Monitor, cable testers and sniffing software.
Applicant must be well organized and be able to work independently.
The individual must have both good written and Oral communication skills.
Applicant must be able to develop and implement a network reporting system
concerning the
network capacity, utilization and health.

DUTIES:
Daily monitoring of error logs on the servers, switches and routers and
report
 problems or suspect problems.
Perform pro-active monitoring for network trending analysis.
Perform emergency sniffing with appropriate software to drill down and
locate printers,
workstations, servers, hubs, switches and incorrect configurations.
Assist the Network Administrator in basic administration tasks.
Develop and implement a daily network reporting system for the above
mentioned tasks
Perorm 2nd level desktop support for problem escalations.
Assist network technicians in troubleshooting network.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
Using gathered data, develop proposals for any needed upgrades to existing
network.
Network General for drilling down fast to locate a problem, Concord for long
term trending analysis
and HP Openview for hardware problems and collection of network statistics.
