Here is info from a fax I just got from the UBC Student Environment Centre. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Talk: OZONE POLLUTION IN THE LOWER FRASER VALLEY, B.C. Speaker: Dr. D.G. Steyn, chair, Atmospheric Science Program, UBC Time: Thurs. Mar. 11, 11:30 a.m. Place: Buchanan A204, UBC Abstract: Ozone pollution in the lower atmosphere at GVRD monitorin stations in the Lower Fraser Valley frequently exceeds the federal guidelines for maximum acceptable air pollution and sometimes the maximum tolerable guideline. The meteorological and chemical nature of this pollution will be explained so everyone can understand. Dr. Steyn will also give and indication of research underway at UBC that is attempting to come to an understanding of the relation between the strength of pollution sources and the severity of the episodes. Attempts will be made to link the solution of the problem to transportation and planning initiatives. -- David Dalton ------------------------------ <Dalton@Geop.UBC.Ca> ------ Dept. of Geophysics & Astronomy, (604) 822-2267 2219 Main Mall, University of British Columbia fax 822-6047 Vancouver, Canada V6T 1Z4 home 733-1303
