Great analysis. You left out Unitel -- I believe their new plan is, if you spend more than $25 in a month you get a flat 25% discount off BCTel "regular" rates, plus 5 Aeroplan miles per dollar you spend (post-discount and pre-tax). If you value an Aeroplan mile at two cents, then Unitel's effective discount is 32.5%. This will be much better than Sprint *if* you make calls to a lot of different phone numbers. But if you make most of your calls to only two or three numbers then Sprint will likely be better. And if you make less than $25 worth of (pre-discount?) calls, Sprint will definitely be better. And my valuation of an Aeroplan mile is arbitrary, and probably a little too high. BCTel's five digit access code is 10323. E.g., if Sprint is your primary carrier but you want to have a call to the number (613) 745-1576 go through BCTel, dial 1032316137451576. Does anyone have a list of the five-digit codes for other Canadian carriers? Also, are the tariff rates available on-line anywhere? Judging from a recent phone bill, the base rate from Vancouver to southern Ontario is 48 cents per minute; and Vancouver to New York state is 56 cents per minute. Mathew Englander
