Hi, grad students in computer science at UBC with long memories or venerable 
tenure may remember me as a former graduate student in the 
Computer Science department.

I have a quiet one-bedroom basement apartment for rent which may be suitable 
for a single graduate student in need of one.  Two graduate theses have been
successfully defended by former occupants!

It's located near Victoria and 8th Avenue east about a block 
and a half from the Broadway Skytrain station and where the 'Bee-line'
express bus to UBC starts.  The rent is $500 which includes all
utilities and laundry facilities.  The rent also includes a
tenant discount at a local record store!  The rent is below 
market rates I think but it's worth it to find a responsible tenant.  

Our main concern is to find a non-smoker, the air circulates through 
the house and (living upstairs) we're both sensitive.  Pets are less of
a concern, we have a cat and the neighbourhood is full of them.

The apartment is available on October 1st.  If you're interested (or know of

to either set a time to view or otherwise discuss it.  If you're not, I
