Californians, I'm writing an article for a California news magazine on whether or not the state's economic rebound is spurring an increase in shopping. Do you find yourself buying more things in recent months? Do you think it has anything to do with the state coming out of its recession? Has the state's upswing helped your own financial situation? Or are none of the above true? Please post replies to any of the mentioned newsgroups, and/or e-mail me at simons@earthlink.net. I eagerly await to hear from you. Sincerely, David Simons

After struggling through the recession working for Prudential for $700 a month, no benefits, no raise for two years. I land a good good at $2000/mo full medical & dental. Just as my benefits are about to start the firm is regulated out of business. After passing out over 500 resumes I get about 5 calls, most from temp agencies that all make you spend half the day taking the same dumb Excel & Word quizes after keeping you wanting in the lobby for an hour. The government regulates small employers who provides good wages and benefits out of business, while allowing big corporations to merge and lay off tens of thousands of people.
