Appeal for help

An appeal directed only to those with time on their hands ...

I've been told that one of my web pages (home page of
<http://www.camantsoc.org/>) is not rendering correctly in IE7. All the
layout disappears. It (and its css) passes the W3C validation checks,
and renders fine in other browsers, so I assume it is some IE silliness;
but oddly other pages written to the same template and with the same css
apparently work fine. If anyone would like to verify that IE7 (or any
other version or browser) doesn't like my page I'd be grateful, and 100
extra brownie points to anyone who can offer a fix.

Well, that's not me but...

You have a missing '>' on the end of your 3rd <meta> tag - the one
just before the stylesheet link.

I can verify that it is displayed broken.

Well I can confirm that applying Jon's fix to a local copy fixes it.

"Web rendering problem not entirely the fault of IE shock" :)

I kind of like xhtml, then editors/validators pick more of these kind
of things up for you.

I'd agree with moving to xhtml to enhance this validation, but don't
rely on the W3C validation. In my Firefox (with various validation
plugins) a simple view source highlights the meta tag and produces the
warning 'line 7 column 1 - warning: <meta> missing '>' for end of tag.

It doesn't indicate what the upshot of the error would be though. For
that the 'Total Validator' plugin can be configured to provide multiple
screenshots on different systems and using different browsers.

3 very helpful responses, thank you. Yes if I were writing it today I'd
certainly use xhtml and one day I'll revise it.

That's useful too. Thanks specially to Jon for the sharp eye: hopefully
the site is now all fixed.

You can get screenshots for a range of browsers from browsershots.org.
They didn't offer IE7 when I looked last week, but they do have IE/Win,
various Linux and Safari for Mac.

Seems like a good service.
