The fifteenth issue of InterText Magazine (Volume 3 Number 5) has just been
released on the Internet, CompuServe, and other network distribution points.

InterText is a network-distributed bi-monthly magazine. It's free! We publish
all kinds of material, ranging from mainstream stories to fantasy to horror
to science fiction to humor. We've been publishing InterText for more than
two years.

Unlike fiction which appears on network newsgroups or mailing lists,
the stories in _InterText_ are selected/rejected, edited, and published
more like a "real" fiction magazine... as a reader, you get our guarantee
that we're showing you only the best stories we've received, free of
mistakes, misspellings, etc.

InterText publishes in both ASCII (plain text) and PostScript (laser printer,
complete with cover art and photos, generated in Aldus PageMaker) formats,
and reaches over 1,000 readers on four continents -- a wide audience
larger than most "small press" fiction magazines.

If you'd like to receive either the ASCII or PostScript edition in your
mailbox, mail me at jsnell@ocf.Berkeley.edu and let me know which you'd
like. The next issue will appear November 15, 1993.

If you can FTP, mail me to be put on a list that will notify you when the
new issue is available for anonymous FTP at our FTP site!

If you'd like to see back issues of InterText, you can FTP them from

network.ucsd.edu (128.54.16.3) in /intertext

Login as anonymous, with your email address as your password.

If you have CompuServe, you can read our ASCII issues in the
Electronic Frontier Foundation Forum, accessible by typing GO EFFSIG.
We're located in the "Zines from the Net" section of EFFSIG.

ALL OUR SUBMISSIONS CURRENTLY COME ELECTRONICALLY, from people like you.
And we're always looking for submissions.

Anyone can submit a story, regardless of age, race, gender, educational
status, corporate affiliation, etc.

Stories should be under 15,000 words, though exceptions to this rule can
be made. (We're VERY selective about longer, serialized works, so it's
a good idea to ask us...)

All genres of writing are acceptable. We've published "mainstream"-style
stories, as well as far-out science fiction. I'd like to keep the magazine
as diverse as possible. Also, it must be original fiction -- no use of
copyrighted characters, e.g. Star Trek, Dr. Who, etc.

Submissions can be made in many different formats: plain ASCII text,
RTF (Rich Text Format/Interchange), binhexed Macintosh files-- just
about anything that Microsoft Word/Mac 5.1 can decipher.

For those submitting in plain ASCII, it's best to use 2-3 spaces as your
indents... don't double-space, and don't put an extra space in
between paragraphs.

If you have any other questions, also feel free to email me.
