LEARN SELF-DEFENSE
With the U.C. Berkeley Martial Arts Program

Hapkido is "the way of power coordination," a Korean form of self-defense.
A blend of three fighting styles, Hapkido combines wrist-twsting, kicking
and punching with throwing and grappling.  Pure Hapkido is not a martial
sport but a martial art that emphasizes self-defense in a wide variety of
situations.

Hapkido has been taught at U.C. Berkeley for over 20 years.  Each session
consists of warm-ups, then a practice and learning session with individual
attention, and drills and exercises.  Men and women of all ages are welcome.


Classes meet in the Recreational Sports Facility (RSF) on the U.C. Berkeley
Campus, 2301 Bancroft Way, Room 145.

5:30 - 7:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
3:00 - 5:00 pm Sunday

$60 per semester for U.C. students
$80 per semester for U.C. alumni
$100 per semester for community members of all ages

Your first class is free.

We can add to the above that Hapkido is an enjoyable way to learn self-
defense and meet new people.  Students, staff, faculty, alumni and members
of the general public (of any age) are welcome.

If you want to chat about what Hapkido is like, you can call Stephen
at work before 5:00 p.m. -- (510) 451-4175.

Even if you miss Wednesday's orientation meeting, you can still join
any time during the semester.

Tell the people at the front desk of the RSF that you want to join
Hapkido and they will direct you to Room 145.  The first part of the
meeting will be the promotional ceremony for students from the summer
semester, followed by an orientation and question and answer period.
Wear informal clothing or a martial arts uniform if you have one.
