VOTE TODAY -- FREE BUSES ALL SEMESTER !!! > From: Sunessa Schettler <sunessa@hotmail.com> > Subject: Re: Cal Transit pass vote today, tomorrow ASAP: Please vote soon! Hi folks, Today and continuing into tomorrow, all UC Berkeley students will have the opportunity to vote on a referendum offering all registered students UNLIMITED AC Transit and Campus Daytime Shuttle rides all semester long for just $18. If you haven't voted already, please support mass transit and affordable transportation for all by voting YES for the Class Pass referendum. Please read on for benefits or see the posting on the front page of www.berkeley.edu for more info. Locations of voting areas are listed below and are all across campus. Thanks so much for taking this important step to make our campus area more environmentally sustainable and our lives easier with transit! Please help me spread the word to the rest of the Students for a Livable Southside and student cyclists--I don't have all their e-mails grouped together yet. Best wishes, -Sunessa Benefits: ------------------------------------------------------------------ VALUE: the equivalent adult fare for AC Transit local service would cost $225 per semester ($400 per semester for transbay bus and local service). The Universal Class Pass is only $18 per semester, which includes local, transbay, and the Campus Daytime Shuttle service. MOBILITY: unlimited use of AC Transit's 147 bus lines in the East Bay and to San Franciso. Easier access to more housing options. Students can ride bicycles in good weather, and ride the bus in inclement weather. Additionally, most AC Transit buses are equipped with bike racks. SAFETY: at night, students can now hop on a bus home rather than walk. EQUITY: offers all students equal access to inexpensive transportation. ENVIRONMENTAL: reduces automobile congestion in and around campus. Decreases the demand for parking and minimizes pollution. EASY: Boarding the AC Transit bus and Campus Shuttle will be as simple as getting on--you won't need to fumble around for change! You'll get a sticker for your ID card, and then just flash it to the driver when you want a ride.
