: Hello, I am on-line representing the Davis Police Department. I am
: pleased to announce the *grand opening* of the newsgroup "davis.crime".
: Among other things, davis.crime is the location of the "davis.crime"
: FAQ. Several people at the Police Department and volunteers from the DPD
: Internet Test Team got together and drafted the FAQ from existing
: Department publications. It covers the questions we get asked most here,
: and the questions our community volunteers thought needed to be addressed.

: Highlights include: "What happens when you get stopped by the police?"
: "Where is the safest place to live in Davis?" "How can I find laws on the
: internet?" "Is there crime in Davis?" "How many officers patrol Davis on
: an average night, and where do they patrol?" and "What can I do about crime?"

: Please take a moment to stop by. As this is the first version, comments
: on the FAQ are especially sought, positive or negative. The newsgroup is
: also open to you for discussion of any Davis crime issues. I hope this
: proves to be useful.
