There is a Zen sitting group which meets in Hyde Park on Wednesday afternoons each week. Myoyu Anderson, a student of Maezumi Roshi, is the instructor. While the practice is mostly Soto style, koan practise is possible. The group is affiliated with the Zen Center of Los Angeles. Sitting begins at 2:45 on Wednesdays, at the 57th St. Meeting of Friends (Quaker House) in Hyde Park. The address is 5615 S. Woodlawn Ave., Chicago. We usually arrive at about 2:30 to get ready. There are two sitting sessions of 30 minutes each, separated by walking meditation. We talk afterwards. There will also be a half-day sesshin on August 29th, followed by a pot luck meal. This is planned for the morning, from 8:00 to 2:00. For information, please contact William Douglas at (312) 947-0150 or w-douglas@uchicago.edu wbd@igc.org Please call or email ahead if you can so we know how many sitting cushions to bring. If you have your own zafu, that's a good thing to bring as well - we do have some spares. -- Better than a thousand useless words is one word which, being heard, brings peace. w-douglas@uchicago.edu wbd@igc.org
