Attention foreigners:
- if you are studying, working, or just visiting in Chicago -
THIS IS SOMETHING FOR YOU:
+--------------------------------------------+
|**CROSSROADS INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CENTER**|
| 5621 S. Blackstone Ave., Chicago, IL 60637 |
+--------------------------------------------+
It is a social center for those who are interested in cultural exchange
and friendship. The center is open to the international community
throughout Chicago, including foreign and American students, faculty
members, their families, and other visitors from abroad.
You are welcome to make Crossroads your "home away from home,"
and to use the lounge, library, kitchen and TV room. You are invited
to visit Crossroads during their regular hours to enjoy the house and
garden, meet friends, or just relax for a moment.
Crossroads is an independent, non-profit organization, privately
funded by people who believe in international cooperation and exchange. It is
open to students of all ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
Visitors are welcome to participate in the program and to use
the facilities the house offers. There are large rooms for classes and
meetings as well as quiet "nooks" for reading, studying or just conversing.
The program includes English classes, foreign language classes,
lectures, cultural presentations, ethnic cooking demonstrations,
pot-luck dinners and other social events. The activities have been
particularly popular with the spouses of international students and scholars.
LOCATION:
- in Hyde Park at 56th Street and South Blackstone Avenue.
- between the Museum of Science and the University of Chicago campus.
- two blocks from Illinois Central (IC) stop at 56th Street.
- two blocks from the CTA Bus Stop of Routes #6, #1, #55
- when driving, use Lake Shore Drive exit at 57th Street (near the Museum
of Science and Industry).
