I think there is something to be said for a dance with a moderate, measured tempo, where you have the time to really experience your partner: to look at her, to touch her, and even to smell her, all while gliding along to some of the most beautiful music around. Yeah, it's romantic, but it works for me on a lot of, how shall I put it, more primitive levels too. The waltz may not be sexy or sensual to watch, but to *DO*, IMHO, it has no equal. I am talking Viennese here too--you can keep your box stepping. This is not to run down any other dances of course. We are talking about an area of the human psyche that is about as unpredictable, irrational and individual as they get. What ever works for you, is what works for you. Of course, if you do it right, a set dance like the French Quadrille or Wellhall, or even a Pavan or Galliard (for the truely retro) can be pretty erotic. It's all about how you relate to your fellow dancer(s).
