Hi everyone! Here's the results from our survey. We focused mostly
on percentages in our presentation, so I don't have any standard
deviations, medians, modes, confidence intervals, etc. handy. If
there is enough interest, I will post those if you let me know:).
Well, as you might have guessed already, our presentation for our
marketing class was on the world wide web, specifically advertising
and security issues. We started out with some qualifying questions
to make sure we were questioning people who used computers somewhat
frequently. And everyone qualified:). Then, we asked some simple
warm-up questions including whether or not you used the Web. Following
that were the complicated questions about the Web, and then, finally,
we asked demographic questions. Our survey went according to standard
market research procedure (as was taught in our class). However,
we are still amateurs in the field of marketing so I would strongly
warn against anyone using this for business research purposes.
There were 52 respondents in all and as you will notice later only
eight people do not use the WWW.
Without further ado...

------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you use the Web, answer #6 through #16. If not, skip to #17.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(so, this is out of 44 people who said yes to using the WWW.)
(and if people left something blank or refused to answer something, I
left that answer blank)
6. What services do you use on the WWW?

7. Rank the WWW services according to how often you use each one.
(highest usage being at 5, then 4, 3, 2, and the lowest usage at 1)
(btw, for those of you who did not complete the 5 through 1 ranking
or who repeated numbers, I left the answer blank...sorry I didn't
make the instructions more clear:))
shopping average of 1.514 (ranked 1 meaning last)
special interest 3.833 (ranked 5 meaning the highest)
entertainment 3.000 (ranked 3rd)
research 3.675 (ranked 4th)
other 2.472 (ranked 2nd)
so, once again 5 is the most used (the highest) and then it goes on
down to 1.:)
8. Rank the services from most like to least liked.
(most liked being at 5, then 4, 3, 2, and the least liked at 1)

17. What is your occupation?
(this is out of 52 people)
computer related jobs 16
I didn't feel right about revealing everyone's jobs on a newsgroup,
so if you are in dire need of knowing the occupations, you will have
to write to me. (of course, no names or account names will be
connected to these occupations, if I give them out).
18. What is the highest level of education that you have attained?

The end! All questions/comments/flames (not:)) should be sent to
billyboy@music.cc.uga.edu
For those of you who wish to discuss my interpretations, you can write
to me but I don't have anything shocking to say...everything's pretty
consistent with the reports in the media. Well, thank you again and
good luck to you in the future!
Take care:) Kerry
