A faculty member in our department has a serious problem with his computer under Windows and Desqview. He has a Northgate 486/33. Under straight DOS 5.0 he has no trouble accessing the floppy drives. However, under Windows 3.0, Windows 3.1 or Desqview, he cannot access the floppy drives without it locking the system down -- forcing a reboot. He ran QAPLUS for the DMA tests that it offers. Under DOS, none of the DMA tests fail. Under Windows or DesqView, the DMA Page Register test fails. Northgate sent him a new HD/floppy controller but it made things worse. He went back to the original that came with the computer. There is just something not right with his computer under Windows or Deqsview, but we can't figure out what it is. Any help would be appreciated. Please post replies directly to me. Thanks in advance for your help.
