                     1994 ECO-COMMUNITY CONFERENCE

The 1994 Midwest Eco-Community Conference will be held October 14-16 at
the WideWater Retreat Center, Liberty, OH. Hosted by Bowling Green
State University. The conference is attended primarily by grad students
in fields related to social ecology and community psychology, but
faculty, professionals, and community organizers are always welcome as
well. This is always a fun meeting, and a good chance to network with
like-minded people. BE THERE!

The theme of the conference is "Small Wins".

"By framing our community interests, action-oriented interventions,
research plans and projects, and even our individual professional and
academic development in terms of small wins, not only can we perceive
our actions more positively, but we may actually increase our
effectiveness as community psychologists.

...

Small Wins are concrete, complete, implemented outcomes of modest
importace. Alone, a small win may seem unimportant. A series of small
wins, however, reveals a pattern of controllable opportunities and
visible results which will attract allies and generate excitement and
optimism."

"CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS:

We would like to invite people who have operated from a small wins
mindset (knowingly or unknowingly) to consider submitting presentation
proposals for the 1994 annual ECO conference. We invite 1-2 page
presentation proposals on eco-community topics. In preparing your
presentation, please include your experiences or thoughts about your own
"small wins". We encourage presentations from researchers or teams of
researchers. In your proposal, specify whether your presentation will
be in the form of a discussion group, panel, symposium or other creative
session concept."
