For Sale: Star Powertype daisy wheel printer. This unit has a wide carriage for 165 column output by inserting 8.5x11" paper in sideways (landscape). The pitch is 10, 12, 15, or proportional. It works very nicely with programs like WordPerfect 5.x and WordStar. It also has two compatibility modes for programs which do not explicity support it (WordPerfect does, for example). These two modes make it compatible with a Qume or with an Epson. It supports bit mapped graphics with very high resolution (120 dpi horizontally, 48 dpi vertically). It uses Qume style printwheels and ribbons. Included are a Pica, an Elite, and a script (cursive style) printwheel. It includes both parallel and serial ports. It has very customizeable print attributes, including downloadable printwheel character maps. It is friction feed (like a typewriter) by default, but an optional tractor unit can be installed (which I do not have). I have the original box and manual, which is quite good. It is in good condition. I am selling it because I do not use it often, having two printers and easy access to a laser printer at the university, and I need the cash to pay for something else which I need more. Contact me for more information or if you are interested in it. I am asking $100 for it. Brent Whitlock whitlock@logos.vlsi.uiuc.edu
