The cable TV cable is a transmission line. From the cable company's point of view, your house looks like a 50 ohm (or is it 75 ohm?) load on their network, no matter whether you have one TV or a million. However, each time you put a splitter on the line you cut your signal, so if you have a lot you may want to use a signal booster. A friend also told me that most splitters don't have the transformer to do impedence matching, so if that's the case it affects things too (if the impedence isn't matched correctly, it causes reflections which will create ghosts). -David Hull
