This sort of cross-ownership has already had nasty effects: some of the major 
cable operators (I forget which) own hefty chunks of stock in Turner 
Broadcasting, and therefore in CNN.

That's why they refused to carry CNBC until its owner (NBC) gave in to their 
wishes and promised that it would never become a competing general-news 
channel.

Sounds like a combination-in-restraint-of-trade to me.
