In article <o0CnOgAOJVA2EwWM@dbqa.demon.co.uk> Tom Bird <hamster@nospam.demon.co.uk> shared the following with us in demon.tech.pc: [snip] >Intel overdrive P200 MMX (it's probably cheaper to upgrade the whole >motherboard and get a cheap AMD or Cyrix (or even... IDT) processor. Agreed. AMD K6-300 probably being the best bet. The prices have dropped again (about 60quid + Tony's cut). Runs very cool and easily clockable to 333Mhz (with a clock multiplier of 5). I'm toying with upping the bus speed from 66Mh to 75Mhz, but I'm not sure of the extra strains this would put on the system stability and processor temperature. I think that running a 333Mhz instead of 300Mhz is already pushing it. Only problem is that I had to wait a flipping month to get one! Bit of a supply and demand problem. Combined with the Abit TX-5 motherboard the system is very fast and stable. -- Marcus Durham
