As the originator of this thread, I thought I'd jump in again on this subject of the actual size of the screen. I have now got my new 15" monitor, a Sony Multiscan 15SFII, and am very pleased with it. After all, it is probably the most expensive 15". The actual viewable area of the (very flat) screen is only 13.75" (across the diagonals), although the actual tube could be as much as 16.5"-17". The picture can be stretched way past the viewable area, so the image can nicely fill the screen. I'm sure some people are very upset when the unpack their new 15" monitor to find that it is actually only a 14" (or less). Still, my new screen is a massive improvement over my old 14" (err... I mean 13") Tatung monitor. It is amazing what difference an inch makes. Ask my girlfriend !
