Extracting graphics from Word document.

I have been sent a word document, and asked to re-write it for a web
page.

It has several embedded graphics. Short of screen- captures, how can I
extract these graphics and save them as individual files?

Tried selecting the frame they're in (I think graphics have to be in a
frame) and then Ctrl-C (or Edit/Copy) and then pasting into a graphics
application like Paint Shop Pro or Photomagic?

Tried double-clicking on the graphic in case it's an imbedded object, in
which case OLE will try to load the relevant application (which of
course you may not have .... )

A word expert, which I'm not, may be of more help though.

PS you could try saving it as HTML ... that would work in WordPro which
I'm far more familiar with.

If you use Word (97 at any rate does this) to save as html it extracts
the images for you as image1.gif, image2.gif etc

Another way in which Bill Gates's best isn't a patch on old-fashioned
WordPerfect 6.1 - where you could simply select the image and "save as"
in all sorts of formats. Oh - and in WP6.1 you could deal with a
"linked" graphic where the source file has moved. Try *that* in Word97,
too ... Oh dear.

So it is with earlier versions, although I think you have to install the
HTML converter.

In addition to the replies you have received:-

If you have Paint Shop Pro you could just capture a screen area as well.

Er ... yes - but that can only ever save a very low resolution of what
may well be a decent quality original. So - a last resort, perhaps?
