Looks like the version of Metro-X you're using doesn't understand the
Mystique. (I had problems with a Mystique last year; seems Matrox aren't
that helpful to people who don't want to run overgrown DOS shells on
their hardware.)

Now _that_ is more enlightening. 

In a nutshell; there are various XFree86 X servers (installed in in 
/usr/X11R6/bin by RedHat 5.0). The one you need -- the SVGA server
with support for Matrox video cards -- could not be found. This means
you probably need to install it from the appropriate RPM, and also
symlink /etc/X11/X to it.
