(NOTE: I've taken the liberty of adding Demon tech modems to the
newsgroup list, given the interest this is likely to generate
there... hope this doesn't bother you.)

On Thu, 21 Jan 1999 14:38:03 +0000, Andy Thomas did spake:
>I upgraded my Courier to V.90 last week but I only get a maximum of 33.6
>kbps with any of the ISP's I call, including Demon. But if I call the US
>Robotics/3Com BBS in Slough, I get as much as 54666 bps.

Now that is quite weird; 54666 is pretty damned fast really. Is it
usually 54666, is that pretty clean or ARQing lots?

What Demon numbers have you called (have you tried the Green ROMP)?
What telco do you use? Was this upgrade definitely the *UK* Courier
V.90 upgrade?

What kind of init string as well? Are you using the default
configuration or have you configured stuff into your non-volatile
RAM (beyond AT&F1)?

It'd be interesting to see the relevant ATI/ATY details after the
disconnection from Demon (quite a lot of it, so probably best not to
post it all to Usenet -- if you e-mail it I'll have a check and see
if there's anything that screams out as particularly unusual.)

ATI7 (Basic configuration stuff)
ATI6 (Details about the last connection)
ATI11 (More details about the last connection)
ATY11 (Signal level vs frequency table)

Ta-ra,
  Julie.
